Las Cascadas is a 5.5 acre
coffee finca (farm) that is divided almost equally among
coffee trees, open views and an old-forest quebrada (year-round
stream). It is at the western edge of the Pacific rain forest,
just into the Turrubares county. It is 20-25 minutes drive
from Puriscal and Orotina and the Turubari adventure resort
and five minutes from San Pablo. Currently there are three
building sites, a concrete road to the top, and two well-developed
trails to the three waterfalls (17', 22' and 65'). The middle
site has a large storage shed (bodega) for tools and supplies.
The quebrada section of the property is tropical with huge
old-growth trees and views of each of the cascadas (cascades)
and many natural pools.
At an elevation of 2350
feet, the farm is in the highest part of the western-most
canton of San Jose (Turrubares). The views from all sites
are to Puntarenas and an expansive view of the Gulf of Nicoya;
of the Atenas cerro; Orotina, and the Turrubares River gorge.
The middle site also has beautiful views to the north, cerro
Atenas and the village of Escobal. The lowest site has expansive
views to the Gulf. Sunsets are gorgeous. Driving time to
the far tip of Puntarenas (ferry) is 60 minutes and to Punta
Leona resort and Jaco, one hour and 10 minutes.
